Why would I want the 1000 Series Flip-Down Safeties, in addition to the Pin-Pipe Safeties that come with the PR-1000, PR-1050, and PR-1100 racks? Flip-Down Safeties feature a plastic liner along the top which removes the metal-to-metal contact that occurs when using Pin-Pipe Safeties . This protects your barbell from potential damage when contact is made with the safeties. Additionally, you'll be able to utilize the 1" holes along the sides of the Flip-Down Safeties with PR-5000 attachments, such as the Leg Roller and Utility Horn . Keep in mind these 5000 Series attachments are designed for 3x3" posts, which means there may be some side-to-side play along the pin when downward pressure is not applied. Are these Flip-Down Safeties compatible with my non-REP rack? Due to machining variables, we cannot guarantee compatibility with non-REP products. Can I use these as a dip attachment? Yes, you need to use a pair of Utility Horns and their safety pins, along with the flip-down safeties, to be able to do the dip movement properly. We cannot warranty the safeties for dips with third-party dip handles, as they may be longer and create more torque than our safeties are designed to handle.
