@smallersam_pcos133K viewsConfirmed organic mentions of the specialty retailer we used as the benchmark. Its competitors appear in more than 1,000 English videos. Being in stores doesn’t make a brand part of the conversation.
Every competitor account captured in the window appears below with its best posts. Median ER is the tell: most brand channels can buy reach, but relatively few generate conversation.

Nine posts, 3.7% median ER. Midwife and OB/GYN talking heads, "as a pregnant midwife" credential openers, plus TikTok Shop sale pushes. The most content-native DTC brand account here.

UK retailer. Category director on camera, in-store hauls and "Back Your Body" sale creative. The closest analogue here for any supplement retailer building a store-led Black Friday channel.

One Dylan Efron travel-series reel with Travel + Leisure, 3.2M views. Plus heavy Costco affiliate seeding (Katie Bernardo 9.1M, Wellness by Naomi 3.6M).

Athlete-led (#FuelLikeRonaldo). One Ronaldo recipe reel drove 63M views. Celebrity scale, not replicable, but shows sport partnerships still move supplement content.

UK. Trend audio product launches (Ultra Mushroom gummies, 419K views) and honest-pregnancy humor. Low ER (0.3%), likely paid boost.

Affiliate page, not a brand, but it is the single largest supplement amplifier at Costco: 24M views on a Nordic Naturals #ad.

GNC posts little; its presence comes from #gncpartner creators and "spotted at GNC" restock videos, 56% paid.

Community spotlight testimonials and product boosters. Hair category, 1.4% ER.

Transformation testimonials ("at 378 pounds…"), 500K views each. Story-led, not product-led.
Mentions were counted in captions, transcripts and @-tags across all 10,604 English videos, so a creator saying "I got this at Costco" counts even without a tag. The bars show video counts; each caption adds views, distinct creators and the disclosed-paid share. Read this as the competitive starting line for Black Friday, not as a claim that the study window itself covered the holiday.
Mass retail owns "the find". Amazon, Target, Walmart and Costco appear in more than a thousand English videos between them, with 20 to 30% disclosed as paid. Costco's supplement presence is almost entirely engineered: Nordic Naturals and Garden of Life seed affiliate pages (@costcobuys 24M views, @costcotv, @costco_empties) with the same product in the same week. Target and Walmart earn theirs from creators who are simply there ("we're at Walmart right now", 18.6% ER). For Black Friday, borrow that behavior: let creators discover the offer on camera, compare shelves or carts and show the exact purchase path.
Specialty retailers leave a lane open. GNC (20 mentions, 56% paid, 1.6% ER) runs #gncpartner and #teamgnc with fitness coaches and gets organic "spotted at GNC" restocks from PCOS creator @smallersam_pcos. The Vitamin Shoppe (9 mentions, 33% paid) runs #TheShoppePartner store visits (Alan Bersten, Hyrox prep) and lets brands like Animal Pak and Neutonic announce "now at The Vitamin Shoppe". Both footprints are small enough to challenge with consistent sale-week creator coverage. *The final zero row is an anonymized specialty retailer Coreplex used as the reference benchmark; use it as a whitespace benchmark, not as every reader's baseline.

@kaylakoupons158K followersBloom Nutrition (96 mentions, 78% paid), Goli (61% paid), Ritual (57% paid) and Lemme already run supplement commerce through affiliate creators during platform sale events—the closest observed proxy for Black Friday execution. The signature is a hashtag stack (#dealsforyoudays, #tiktokshopcreatorpicks, #bloompartner, #summerwins), a "yellow basket" call-out, and a creator like @philsmypharmacist or @cassidythesahm posting the same SKU a dozen times a month. Median ER is 0.8%: this is a sales channel, not a brand-building channel.
The audited reference portfolio's owned labels generated no TikTok Shop posts in the window. For any brand starting from a similar position, use two lanes: put a tightly selected Black Friday SKU list on Shop with a Tier 3 affiliate roster, clear deadlines and inventory guardrails; keep Tier 1 and 2 creators away from dense affiliate hashtag stacks so their education and comparison content remains credible.

@socially_ari43K followersSelected from 2,176 accounts in the focus set using four criteria: repeated supplement content rather than a one-off, engagement above the 3.1% baseline, a US-facing audience and a format a supplement brand or retailer could credibly sponsor. Stats cover each creator's supplement videos in the window. "Posts paid" is the share disclosed as partnerships: a high share signals campaign experience, while zero identifies a relatively untouched organic voice. Use this as a planning roster, then screen full back catalogs before outreach.
Authority plus proven supplement engagement. Build the season around two or three voices who can educate before the sale and convert during it.
Nurse, mom of 2. Her Walmart-shot "4 supplements for your 20s" hit 3.1M views at 16.5% ER on a 24K-follower account. The single best value-for-money profile in the dataset.

Registered dietitian, "wellness BS busting". Toronto-based but US-facing audience of 1M. Credible myth-busting voice.
"Food ingredients detective". His "best and worst magnesiums at Target" (1.5M views, 5.8% ER) is the exact shelf-ranking format a supplement brand or retailer can adapt for Black Friday.
"King of Micronutrients". 18 supplement-relevant videos, 8.3% median ER. Micronutrient literacy for Gen Z men.
Pharmacist, 2M followers, 32 videos in the set. Most experienced TikTok Shop supplement affiliate in the data (59% of posts are paid). Lower ER, but proven conversion mechanics.
Creators whose organic formats already include hauls, restocks, comparisons and supplement routines—the natural launch team for offer reveals and shopping content.
"Come with me to spend $1,000 at Walmart" reached 2.7M views at 16.3% ER. Shopping-spree energy.
Physician assistant. Target hauls with a clinical eye, 13% median ER.
"Science-backed supplement routine for hair, skin, nails" at 16.1% ER. Routine format, beauty angle.
Postpartum supplement routine, 848K views, 8% ER. Life-stage routine format.
Beauty and food creator, 1.6M followers. Her supplement-stack videos generate the most-liked comment threads in the set ("consuming the whole periodic table").
Amanda Rocchio, 1.7M. "90% of the protein bars at Costco are junk, but this one…" Ranking-at-retail format.

Fitness and supplements for men, 515K, 5.2% median ER. Note: sells his own supplement line.
"Less toxic life", 410K, 9.1% ER. Ingredient-scrutiny angle that pairs with a purity message.
Hair-loss researcher and trainee trichologist, 431K, 13 videos. Hair, skin and nails category owner.
87K followers, 1M views on three videos, 20.8% median ER. Micro creator with outsized pull.
PCOS journey, 2.5M. Already shoots "spotted at GNC" restock content: a direct competitor conquest target.
Trust anchors (Tier 1, two or three creators, 6 months). Run a monthly shelf ranking, product comparison or life-stage explainer, followed by comment-reply sequels. Shoot in-store when retail access exists; otherwise use a kitchen counter, shoppable assortment or side-by-side label read. Pay for exclusivity in the relevant supplement subcategory; none of these creators is currently tied to GNC or The Vitamin Shoppe. Target: 1M organic views per creator per month at 5%+ ER.
Sale activators (Tier 2, eight creators, per-post). Time hauls, routines and value comparisons to teaser week, early access, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Brief around the winning hook patterns in section 08, never around "try it for 30 days". Niche conversion partners (Tier 3, ten creators, gifting plus affiliate). Use TikTok Shop, LTK or direct affiliate links on participating SKUs, with one post per sale beat. This is the tier where the competitor playbook in section 03 already operates at scale.
These two leaderboards reveal different jobs in a Black Friday plan. The first shows where paid reach accumulated during the study window; the second shows what audiences chose to engage with organically. The underlying posts are not Black Friday campaigns, but their performance patterns are a practical creative benchmark. Click any frame to open the original post.
Amber "Paid" badges mark disclosed partnerships. Use these posts to understand the awareness ceiling—not as proof of persuasion. Several of the largest view counts carry near-zero engagement rates.

@itsdrmax605K followersThe 3,400 US-facing English supplement videos in focus were posted by 2,176 accounts and earned 651.9M views in 13 weeks. Volume held at 300 to 500 videos a week, with spikes around TikTok Shop's Deals For You Days (July 7 to 19) and Amazon Prime Day. The pattern is a useful Black Friday preview: an always-on category conversation accelerates when platforms and retailers create a reason to buy now.
Reels reach further per post; TikTok generates the comments, shares and saves that signal intent. Build the Black Friday conversation on TikTok, then use Reels to extend its reach.
One in five posts is a disclosed partnership; those posts take 38% of all views but engage only a third as well. Use paid media for distribution, not as a proxy for trust.
TikTok Shop is a volume engine: low reach per post, repeated often. Affiliates post the same product three to five times during a sale window—a cadence built for promotion, not conversation.
Every comparison uses medians rather than averages, so a handful of 20M-view celebrity ads cannot distort the result. ER means engagement per view: likes, comments and shares divided by views.
Two- to three-minute explainers engage more than 4x better than 15- to 30-second clips. Short clips still own the reach ceiling (p90 651K views for 15 to 30 s vs 203K for 2 to 3 min). For Black Friday, pair them: use the short cut to earn attention and the longer version to explain the product, proof and offer.
ER rises gently with account size because large accounts are also more polished. The efficiency story appears in the next chart: mid-tier creators deliver a third of all views without requiring celebrity-scale buying power.
Accounts with 100K to 500K followers—879 of them—produce 31% of all views. That band is where a supplement brand's creator budget can buy substantial reach while exclusivity remains comparatively affordable.
Weekend posts are fewer (about 300 vs 550 per weekday) and slightly higher in ER. Posts published between 3am and 8am ET earn the highest median views—the overnight and morning-routine slot, and the period when West Coast night owls also post. The 10am to 4pm ET window is the most competitive; evenings after 6pm are weakest. Schedule from audience behavior, then validate against each creator's own data.
Caption length moves inversely with engagement. Captions under 50 characters run at 4.2% median ER, 51 to 100 characters at 3.5%, and captions over 400 characters at 2.0% to 2.5%—partly because long copy is a signature of paid posts and product-claim disclaimers. Four to five hashtags is both the modal choice (1,615 videos) and the best-engaging bucket (3.2% ER); more than 10 hashtags signals low-quality affiliate posting (1.5% ER). The most-used tags in the focus set were #ad (192), #fyp (136), #health (135), #dealsforyoudays (119), #skincare (110), #supplements (96), #tiktokshopcreatorpicks (81), #wellness (71), #nutrition (61), #guthealth (52), #vitamins (52), #electrolytes (43), #magnesium (42), #bloompartner (41), #womenshealth (41), #hairgrowth (40), #skincareroutine (37), #protein (35), #summerwins (33), #vitaminc (32), #fitness (32), #kbeauty (31), #wieiad (31) and #hairloss (30).
About four in five videos use original sound. Licensed trending music lifts median views by roughly 65% (46K vs 28K) but halves ER (1.8% vs 3.2%), making it useful for launches and sale moments rather than the explainers that build trust. Verified accounts earn 2x the views (47K vs 22K) but lower ER (2.4% vs 3.9%) than unverified creators—the same paid-reach versus organic-response pattern in another form.
Spoken openings were transcribed for the focus set. We classified the first sentence of 3,293 videos into nine hook patterns, then compared each pattern's median views and ER with the overall baseline (31K views, 3.06% ER). Each pattern includes three examples, ranked by ER, all with more than 100K views.

@rogerwh0729K followersRoutine, listicle and retail-find openings win because they promise a concrete, finite payoff: “four things,” “what I take,” or “what I found.” The viewer immediately knows what they will get and can act on it in a store, on a marketplace or on a product page. Question hooks such as “did you know” are the most common opener (6.4% of videos) and underperform on both views and ER. Myth-busting is the second most common pattern and the second worst on ER. In a saturated category, usefulness beats manufactured surprise.
Two findings challenge standard creator briefs. Credential-first openings (“as a pharmacist…”) are rare and weak; the same clinicians perform much better when they lead with a mechanism or symptom and let the credential sit in the bio. “I tried X for 30 days” experiments—the familiar creator-program staple—are the weakest pattern in the set at 1.7% ER because viewers discount them as ads. For Black Friday, lead with the decision you help the shopper make, then introduce the offer after the value is clear.
Topics were detected across captions and spoken-word transcripts, so a video that never types “magnesium” but says it aloud still counts. Momentum compares each topic's share of videos in the second four weeks (Jun 22 to Jul 19) with the first four (May 25 to Jun 21). Every row links to the highest-engagement example with more than 150K views.

Electrolytes and hydration (+13%), weight and GLP-1 companions (+17%), protein and creatine (+6%), gummies (+8%) and longevity (+8%) were rising. Our read: hydration is a summer effect likely to fade, while GLP-1 side-effect support—protein, fiber, electrolytes and muscle preservation—is structural. Back-to-school and immunity content typically starts ramping in late August. Build the sale calendar around the durable need states, then use seasonal topics as timely entry points.
Energy and fatigue (-29%), stress and cortisol (-26%), vitamin D (-26%) and women's hormones (-22%) cooled during the benchmark window. These are winter and spring topics that dip in summer; we expect vitamin D content in particular to return in October. A summer decline is not a demand verdict. It is a signal to stage the content for the season when the need becomes salient again.
Omega-3 (4.3% median ER), joint and bone (4.0%), kids and family (3.8%), vitamin D (3.8%) and protein (3.7%) engage best, all above the 3.1% baseline. Hair, skin and nails is the largest topic by far (282M views) but sits at 2.9% ER—the beauty industry's reach battleground. The broader opportunity for supplement brands is in trust: credible education, proof and product clarity around the categories that invite questions.
Across the 3,400-video US focus set, 19,511 comments were scored with the VADER lexicon model and tagged for recurring themes. Treat the results as a Black Friday objection-and-intent map: count share shows what people say, while like-weighted share shows which reactions the crowd validates.
The category is warm: one in two comments is positive and only 12% are negative. But negative comments attract almost twice their share of likes—20%—and the most-liked critical reactions are safety questions ("is there no side effects taking all these at once?", 1,543 likes; "imagine all the work your liver is doing", 2,138 likes). For Black Friday, the trust win is to answer those concerns at the moment of consideration with qualified voices, evidence and clear directions, not simply a bigger discount.
The dataset contains 5,645 non-English videos, led by Spanish. Use this section as a cross-market idea bank: it shows how expert authority, affiliate codes, store-floor entertainment and celebrity reach behave outside the US focus set.
Largest non-English pool (1,653 videos, 642M views). Dermatologists and pharmacists dominate; "vitamina C" is skincare-first, not pill-first. For brands serving US Hispanic or Mexican shoppers, Black Friday creative should lead with expert guidance and the locally understood benefit, then attach the deal.
Brazil turns pre-workout into fashion; Growth Supplements uses creator seeding, and Costco Canada finds get cross-posted into the feed. Black Friday lesson: attach a code or bundle to identity-led creator content, not a generic sale card.
Heavily paid (#adv) pharmacy-brand content from names such as Dr. Max and Vichy delivers near-zero ER: reach-buying, not community. Treat this as a warning against judging Black Friday creative on impressions alone.
Doctor creators such as @drkevinmak reach 12 to 16% ER. Unlike the US focus set, credential-first openings work here; use expert education during the warm-up period before introducing the sale.
@drkevinmak4.1M followers
@drkevinmak4.1M followersPharmacist explainers sit beside iHerb discount-code content. iHerb affiliate codes are the dominant supplement-commerce mechanic in MENA, making visible, repeatable codes a proven local sale behavior.
Celebrity and Bollywood integrations for Vaseline, Cetaphil and OZiva deliver massive reach with ER under 1.2%. This is an awareness play for Black Friday, not evidence of product consideration.
Cuure subscription affiliates and InShape Nutrition's store-floor comedy ("the worst customer in store", 10% ER) show that retail-floor humor travels. It is a portable Black Friday format for stores, pop-ups and staff-led channels.

@brodieshredzz1.2M followersPresence. Track videos that say or show the participating brand in captions, spoken words or onscreen text. For a brand starting near zero, an illustrative 90-day goal is 40 videos and 5M views; the original comparison points were GNC at 20 videos and The Vitamin Shoppe at nine.
Quality. Benchmark partner-post median ER against the 3.1% category baseline and 1.1% paid baseline. Anything below 2% is primarily paid reach rather than brand-building engagement.
Intent and commerce. Track the share of comments asking "where can I buy this?", "what brand?" and dosage questions; the percentage answered within 24 hours; product-page clicks; offer-code redemptions; and attributed sales.

Sources. The data comes from three exports prepared with our data partner: a visual search for supplement bottles and pills on screen (10,344 rows), a “vitamins” keyword search across all languages (7,900 rows), and an English-only “vitamins” keyword search (3,354 rows). The source-specific windows begin May 24–25 and end August 24–25, 2026, covering TikTok and Instagram. After malformed rows were removed and results were deduplicated by video ID, the dataset contained 16,249 unique videos from 10,249 accounts, representing 5.22B views across 47 languages.
Focus set. The primary US-facing set contains English videos with at least two supplement terms in the caption or transcript—vitamin, magnesium, creatine, probiotic, omega, gummies and 40 others—and no strong non-US signal in the caption, bio or location. It includes 3,400 videos from 2,176 accounts and 651.9M views: 2,130 TikToks and 1,270 Instagram posts. Share-of-voice counts use the full English set of 10,604 videos so adjacent brand, retailer and commerce mentions are captured.
Metrics. Engagement rate is likes, comments and shares divided by views. Medians are used throughout to reduce the effect of outliers. Paid content is inferred from disclosure markers such as #ad, partner, sponsored, paid partnership, TikTok Shop tags and commission, so undisclosed deals may be missed. Hook patterns are regular-expression classes applied to the first sentence of each spoken-word transcript. Sentiment uses VADER compound scores across 19,511 exported comments: positive above 0.05 and negative below −0.05. Topic momentum compares each topic's share of videos from June 22–July 19 with May 25–June 21.
Caveats. The exports appear to apply a minimum-views threshold—the 25th percentile is 23K views—so smaller content is underrepresented and medians are likely higher than a full-platform census. Videos published after approximately July 26 had not accrued enough views at export and are excluded from trend charts. Creator categorization and the shortlist were curated by the Coreplex team from bios and content; complete brand-safety screening remains necessary before outreach. Share-of-voice checks covered captions, transcripts, usernames and bios.
Black Friday context. The source window predates Black Friday 2026. This guide applies observed content, creator, audience and commerce patterns to Black Friday planning; it does not claim to measure Black Friday 2026 performance.
